Industrial Parts Manufacturing & Replacement Parts
Sometimes an entire piece of industrial equipment is sidelined because of one part.
The original manufacturer may no longer make it. Lead times may be unacceptable. The equipment may be obsolete according to the OEM—but still extremely valuable to the operation that depends on it.
Electric Machine & Fab manufactures custom industrial replacement parts and components for heavy equipment, mining machinery, manufacturing equipment, processing systems, and other demanding industrial applications.
With capabilities in industrial machining, CNC machining, heavy fabrication, welding, large-format plate cutting, engineering, and reverse engineering, EMF can manufacture replacement components using the process—or combination of processes—the part actually requires.
If you have a drawing, we'll start there.
If you have the old part, we'll start there.
And if you simply have a machine that's down because nobody can find the component anymore, bring us the problem.
Custom Industrial Replacement Parts
Not every industrial replacement part comes from a catalog.
Many components are unique to a particular machine, equipment manufacturer, production process, or application.
Others have been modified over years of service until a standard replacement no longer fits.
EMF can manufacture custom industrial components and replacement parts based on the requirements of the specific application.
Depending on the project, we can work from:
- Customer drawings
- Engineering drawings
- Specifications
- Existing components
- Samples
- Measurements
- Equipment information
- Available technical documentation
- Reverse-engineered component information
From a single replacement component to parts required for a larger equipment rebuild, EMF can help determine the most practical manufacturing approach.
When the OEM Part Is Obsolete
Industrial machinery often remains productive far longer than the replacement parts supporting it remain available.
That's especially true with heavy industrial equipment built to operate for decades.
Eventually, customers encounter components that are:
- Obsolete
- Discontinued
- No longer supported by the OEM
- Difficult to source
- Available only through specialty suppliers
- Subject to excessive lead times
- Available only as part of a larger assembly
- No longer manufactured in the required configuration
That doesn't automatically mean the machine has reached the end of its life.
When appropriate, EMF can evaluate the existing component and determine whether it can be repaired, reproduced, modified, or replaced with a custom-manufactured part.
Custom Machined Parts
Many industrial replacement components require precision machining.
EMF's industrial machining and CNC machining capabilities allow our team to manufacture custom components for demanding equipment and machinery.
Depending on the application, custom machined parts may include:
- Shafts
- Pins
- Bushings
- Sleeves
- Hubs
- Mechanical adapters
- Mounting components
- Equipment components
- Wear components
- Replacement machine parts
- Custom mechanical components
- Repair components
- Fabricated-and-machined assemblies
Our machining capabilities are particularly valuable for one-off parts, low-volume industrial components, repair work, and equipment where replacement parts are difficult to obtain.

Heavy Fabricated Replacement Components
Not every replacement part can be machined from a single piece of material.
Large industrial components may require heavy steel fabrication, welded assemblies, structural sections, machined features, or a combination of manufacturing processes.
EMF can manufacture custom fabricated replacement components using our heavy industrial fabrication and welding capabilities.
Projects can incorporate:
- Heavy steel plate
- Structural components
- Welded assemblies
- Replacement equipment sections
- Custom equipment components
- Reinforcement pieces
- Wear components
- Fabricated frames and structures
- Machined features
- Custom mounting assemblies
Once fabricated, components can move directly into machining when critical dimensions or mechanical features are required.

Large-Format CNC Plate Cutting
Large replacement parts often start with large material.
At our Sidney, Kentucky facility, EMF operates a large-format Messer CNC cutting system featuring a 10-foot by 30-foot cutting table.
For appropriate materials and applications, EMF has the capability to process heavy plate in the 8- to 10-inch thickness range.
This allows our team to cut substantial replacement components, fabrication blanks, structural sections, wear plates, and custom industrial shapes from heavy steel.
The component can then continue through fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and finishing as required.

Reverse-Engineered Replacement Parts
Sometimes there is no drawing.
There is no CAD file.
There is no useful OEM documentation.
There is just the old part.
That's where reverse engineering becomes especially valuable.
EMF can evaluate existing components and available technical information to help determine the geometry, dimensions, interfaces, and manufacturing requirements needed for a replacement.
Once the necessary information is established, our manufacturing capabilities can take over.
Existing Part → Analysis → Manufacturing Plan → Machining/Fabrication → Finished Replacement
That creates a practical path from an obsolete or damaged component to a newly manufactured industrial part.

Repair the Original or Manufacture a Replacement?
Making a new component isn't always the first answer.
Sometimes the existing part can be repaired.
A worn shaft may be restorable.
A bore may be repairable.
A fabricated component may only need damaged sections replaced.
A heavy equipment component may be rebuildable rather than disposable.
Because EMF provides both industrial repair and custom manufacturing, we can evaluate multiple options.
The solution may be to:
- Repair the original component
- Machine worn surfaces
- Rebuild damaged areas
- Replace only a portion of the component
- Modify the existing part
- Manufacture a complete replacement
The goal is to find the practical solution—not automatically make the most expensive one.
Replacement Parts for Mining Equipment
Mining machinery is a natural fit for EMF's custom parts capabilities.
Underground and surface mining equipment often remains in service for years, and replacement components can become increasingly difficult to obtain.
At the same time, mining equipment operates under extreme conditions that can severely wear or damage components.
EMF can manufacture or rebuild components for mining applications involving:
- Longwall mining equipment
- Underground mining machinery
- Surface mining equipment
- Material handling equipment
- Heavy equipment assemblies
- Buckets and scoops
- Wear components
- Pins and shafts
- Bushings
- Structural components
- Custom fabricated parts
- Replacement equipment components
Our ability to combine machining, heavy fabrication, welding, and equipment rebuilding is particularly valuable for mining components that require more than one manufacturing process.

Heavy Equipment Replacement Parts
Construction, earthmoving, aggregate, material handling, and other heavy equipment applications create similar replacement-part challenges.
A large machine may be completely operational except for one worn, broken, or unavailable component.
EMF can support custom replacement-part projects involving heavy equipment components, mechanical parts, structural pieces, wear components, mounting assemblies, and fabricated components.
When the original part is damaged but still available, it may also provide the starting point for repair or reproduction.

Electric Motor & Electromechanical Components
Large industrial electric motor and electromechanical repairs can also require mechanical components that are difficult to source.
A motor may need more than electrical work.
Shafts, fits, housings, mounting components, and other mechanical parts can become worn or damaged.
EMF's machine-shop capabilities allow custom components to be incorporated directly into a larger motor or electromechanical repair when appropriate.
This combination of motor repair and replacement-part manufacturing can be especially valuable when working with older industrial equipment.

Power Transmission Replacement Components
Industrial power transmission equipment contains mechanical components that can become increasingly difficult to source as machinery ages.
Shafts, hubs, bushings, adapters, mounting components, and other mechanical parts may require repair or reproduction.
EMF can use machining and reverse engineering capabilities to help support custom replacement components for industrial power transmission applications.

Parts for Equipment Retrofitting & Modernization
Sometimes the best replacement part isn't an exact copy of the old one.
A modern component may need to be adapted to older equipment.
A new motor may require a different mount.
A replacement assembly may need a custom adapter.
A machine may need to be modified because the original component is no longer available.
EMF can manufacture the custom adapters, mounting components, fabricated assemblies, shafts, brackets, and other pieces required to connect existing machinery with modern replacement equipment.

From One-Off Parts to Complete Assemblies
EMF's strength is not based on producing millions of identical consumer parts.
Our capabilities are particularly suited to industrial components, custom parts, one-off replacements, repair projects, heavy equipment parts, and specialized manufacturing requirements.
Some projects involve a single machined component.
Others involve a large fabricated assembly containing several machined parts.
Because we have multiple manufacturing disciplines available, EMF can scale the solution around the actual job.
From Raw Material to Finished Industrial Part
A custom replacement component can require several different manufacturing operations.
At EMF, those processes can work together:
Engineering → Material Processing → CNC Cutting → Fabrication → Welding → Machining → Assembly → Finishing
That allows us to take on components that don't fit neatly into the definition of a "machine-shop part" or a "fabrication-shop part."
If it requires both, we can bring both capabilities to the project.
Replacement Parts for Manufacturing & Processing Equipment
Custom parts manufacturing isn't limited to mining and heavy equipment.
Industrial manufacturing and processing facilities frequently operate specialized machinery where replacement components can become difficult to obtain.
EMF can support custom parts and component manufacturing for:
- Industrial Manufacturing
- Processing Facilities
- Mining
- Heavy Construction & Earthmoving
- Utilities & Power Generation
- Material Handling
- Aggregate Operations
- Municipal & Infrastructure
- Heavy Industrial Equipment
The industries may differ, but the problem is universal:
A machine is only as useful as the part that's keeping it from running.
