Industrial Fabrication & Welding
When a project involves heavy steel, oversized components, demanding operating conditions, or complex industrial requirements, a conventional fabrication shop may not have the equipment, space, or experience to handle it.
Electric Machine & Fab provides heavy industrial fabrication and welding services for mining, manufacturing, processing, construction, utilities, material handling, and other demanding industries.
From repairing massive equipment components to building custom steel assemblies from the ground up, EMF combines industrial fabrication, heavy welding, machining, large-format plate cutting, equipment rebuilding, and engineering capabilities within one organization.
With facilities in Sidney, Kentucky, and Williamson, West Virginia, we serve customers throughout the Appalachian region and across the United States.
Heavy Industrial Fabrication
Industrial fabrication is about more than cutting steel and welding pieces together.
The finished component has to perform under the loads, operating conditions, and stresses of its intended application.
EMF works with heavy plate, industrial components, structural assemblies, equipment components, replacement parts, and custom fabricated products designed for demanding environments.
Whether we're repairing an existing component or fabricating something entirely new, our team approaches every project with the same objective:
Build it to work. Build it to last.
Industrial Fabrication Capabilities
Our fabrication capabilities support projects ranging from individual components to substantial industrial assemblies.
Depending on the requirements of the project, EMF capabilities include:
- Heavy steel fabrication
- Custom metal fabrication
- Industrial welding
- Heavy plate fabrication
- Structural fabrication
- Equipment component fabrication
- Mining equipment fabrication
- Custom steel assemblies
- Repair fabrication
- Replacement component manufacturing
- Wear component rebuilding
- Cutting and material preparation
- Forming and fitting
- Machining of fabricated components
- Equipment modifications
- Structural repairs
- Component reinforcement
- Prototype and one-off fabrication
- Reverse-engineered components
- Industrial finishing and painting
Because fabrication works alongside our other departments, EMF can take projects considerably further than simply delivering a welded assembly.
Industrial Welding for Demanding Applications
A weld on heavy industrial equipment isn't decorative.
It can become a critical part of a component operating under substantial loads, vibration, impact, abrasion, and continuous service.
EMF provides industrial welding and heavy-duty repair welding for equipment components, fabricated assemblies, structural components, and industrial repair projects.
Our welding capabilities also play an important role in rebuilding worn equipment.
Damaged or worn areas can often be repaired, rebuilt, reinforced, or resurfaced before the component moves into machining and finishing.
That combination makes welding an integral part of EMF's overall industrial repair capabilities.
Large-Scale Fabrication at Our Sidney, Kentucky Facility
Our Sidney, Kentucky operation serves as a major hub for EMF's heavy fabrication capabilities.
The facility provides the industrial space and equipment required to work with large steel components, mining equipment, heavy machinery, oversized fabrications, and substantial repair projects.
Sidney also houses one of EMF's most significant fabrication capabilities:
Large-Format Messer CNC Cutting
EMF operates a large-format Messer CNC cutting system featuring a 10-foot by 30-foot cutting table.
The system gives our fabrication team the ability to process oversized steel plate and cut substantial components before they move into welding, machining, assembly, or finishing.
For appropriate materials and applications, EMF has the capability to process heavy plate in the 8- to 10-inch thickness range.
That is serious plate-processing capacity—and it dramatically expands the size and scope of fabrication projects EMF can undertake.

From Heavy Plate to Finished Component
One of EMF's strongest advantages is what happens after the plate is cut.
A customer doesn't necessarily have to take cut material to another company for fabrication and then send the fabrication somewhere else for machining.
EMF can bring those operations together.
A project can move through:
Material → CNC Cutting → Fitting → Welding → Fabrication → Machining → Assembly → Finishing
This integrated approach is particularly valuable for complex industrial components requiring both heavy fabrication and precision-machined features.
Instead of managing several vendors, customers can work with one industrial partner.
Custom Industrial Fabrication
Not every industrial project comes from a catalog.
Sometimes a component needs to be modified for a specific application.
Sometimes an existing design needs to be reproduced.
Sometimes the original equipment manufacturer no longer makes the part.
And sometimes the solution simply doesn't exist yet.
EMF provides custom fabrication capabilities for projects involving customer drawings, engineering specifications, existing components, equipment modifications, repair requirements, and one-off industrial applications.
Our combination of fabrication, machining, and reverse engineering gives customers options when an off-the-shelf solution isn't available.
Mining Equipment Fabrication & Welding
Few industries put fabricated steel through punishment like mining.
Impact, abrasion, tremendous loads, moisture, vibration, and continuous operation create extreme wear on mining machinery.
EMF has extensive experience supporting underground and surface mining equipment with heavy fabrication, welding, machining, rebuilding, and component restoration.
Our capabilities support work involving:
- Longwall mining components
- Underground mining equipment
- Surface mining equipment
- Material handling equipment
- Buckets and scoops
- Heavy equipment components
- Structural assemblies
- Wear components
- Equipment frames
- Damaged and worn steel components
- Custom replacement components
Depending on the condition of the equipment, EMF can repair damaged structures, rebuild worn surfaces, replace deteriorated material, fabricate replacement sections, machine critical features, reinforce components, and finish the completed rebuild.

Heavy Equipment Repair Fabrication
Heavy equipment components don't always fail cleanly.
Steel bends. Surfaces wear away. Mounting points deteriorate. Cracks develop. Structural sections become damaged.
That is where fabrication becomes part of the repair process.
Rather than automatically replacing an expensive component, EMF can evaluate whether it can be repaired, reinforced, rebuilt, or partially reconstructed.
Our ability to combine heavy welding with industrial machining gives us greater flexibility when repairing equipment that requires both structural restoration and precision mechanical work.

Fabrication + Machining Under One Company
A fabrication may look simple until the drawing calls for a precision bore, machined mounting surface, shaft interface, bearing fit, or other critical dimension.
That's when having machining capabilities becomes a major advantage.
EMF combines industrial fabrication with CNC and conventional machining, allowing fabricated components to move directly into machining when required.
That can improve project coordination and eliminate another vendor from the manufacturing process.

Replacement Components & Reverse Engineering
Industrial equipment often remains in service far longer than the availability of its original replacement parts.
When a fabricated component is obsolete or unavailable, EMF can help evaluate options for reproducing it.
Depending on the project, our team can work from:
- Existing components
- Customer drawings
- Specifications
- Samples
- Measurements
- Available engineering information
The component can then move through cutting, fabrication, welding, and machining as required.
For customers operating older or specialized equipment, that capability can mean the difference between replacing one component and replacing an entire machine.

Fabrication for More Than Mining
Mining is a major part of EMF's experience, but our fabrication capabilities are valuable anywhere heavy steel and industrial equipment are involved.
We support customers throughout:
- Industrial Manufacturing
- Mining & Material Handling
- Heavy Construction & Earthmoving
- Processing Facilities
- Utilities & Power Generation
- Aggregate & Material Processing
- Municipal & Infrastructure
- Industrial Equipment Manufacturing & Repair
The common denominator isn't the industry.
It's the difficulty of the job.
If a project requires substantial steel, industrial welding, machining, heavy equipment expertise, or large-format processing, EMF has capabilities worth putting to work.
Repair It. Rebuild It. Fabricate It.
New fabrication is only part of what we do.
EMF's ability to combine fabrication with industrial repair allows us to approach worn and damaged equipment differently.
Instead of asking only, "Can we build a new one?"
We can also ask:
Can we repair it?
Can we rebuild it?
Can we reinforce it?
Can we reproduce the damaged section?
Can we machine what can't be purchased?
That flexibility can provide customers with practical alternatives to complete equipment replacement.
