Industrial Machining & CNC Machining

When industrial equipment goes down, the solution isn't always sitting on a shelf.

Electric Machine & Fab provides industrial machining and CNC machining services for heavy equipment components, replacement parts, equipment repairs, custom fabrication, and demanding industrial applications.

With extensive machining capabilities backed by fabrication, welding, engineering, and equipment rebuilding services, EMF can do more than manufacture a part—we can help solve the larger problem that brought the component into the shop in the first place.

From our facilities in Williamson, West Virginia, and Sidney, Kentucky, we serve mining operations, manufacturers, processing facilities, utilities, contractors, and heavy industrial customers throughout the region and across the United States.

Heavy-Duty Machining for Industrial Applications

Industrial machining is a different world from producing thousands of small, identical parts.

EMF specializes in the type of machining required when components are large, worn, damaged, difficult to replace, or critical to keeping an operation running.

Our machining capabilities support new component manufacturing as well as the repair and rebuilding of existing industrial equipment.

Whether we're working from an engineering drawing, an existing component, or as part of a larger equipment rebuild, our focus is on producing a solution that meets the demands of the application.

Industrial Machining Capabilities

Our machining services support a wide range of industrial repair, rebuilding, and manufacturing requirements.

Depending on the project, EMF capabilities include:

  • CNC machining
  • Industrial machining
  • Precision machining
  • Heavy component machining
  • Milling
  • Turning
  • Boring
  • Drilling
  • Shaft machining and repair
  • Journal restoration
  • Bearing fit restoration
  • Component resurfacing
  • Replacement part manufacturing
  • Custom component manufacturing
  • Repair machining
  • Fabricated component machining
  • Equipment rebuild machining
  • Prototype and one-off industrial components
  • Reverse-engineered replacement components

From individual replacement parts to substantial equipment components, EMF is equipped to handle machining projects that demand industrial-scale capabilities.

CNC Machining for Custom Industrial Components

CNC machining provides the precision and repeatability required for complex industrial components.

EMF uses CNC machining capabilities to support custom parts, replacement components, equipment repairs, fabrication projects, and industrial rebuilding operations.

Because CNC machining is integrated with our other shop capabilities, components can move from cutting and fabrication into machining and finishing without requiring the customer to coordinate multiple vendors.

That becomes particularly valuable on complex projects involving both fabricated and precision-machined features.

Repair Machining & Component Restoration

A worn component doesn't necessarily need to be replaced.

In many industrial applications, the original component can be repaired or restored through a combination of machining, welding, resurfacing, material replacement, and precision finishing.

EMF evaluates damaged and worn components to determine whether practical restoration options are available.

Depending on the application, repair machining may be used to restore:

  • Worn shafts
  • Bearing surfaces
  • Journals
  • Bushings and fits
  • Pins
  • Bores
  • Housings
  • Mounting surfaces
  • Equipment components
  • Structural assemblies
  • Mining equipment components

When additional material must be restored before machining, our welding and fabrication capabilities can become part of the same repair process.

Replacement Parts When OEM Parts Aren't an Option

Industrial equipment can remain productive long after original replacement parts become difficult to obtain.

OEM components may be obsolete, discontinued, unavailable, subject to long lead times, or prohibitively expensive.

That's where EMF's combination of machining and reverse engineering becomes especially valuable.

When appropriate, an existing component can be evaluated and used as the basis for producing a replacement.

Our team can work from customer drawings, specifications, samples, existing components, and available engineering information to develop practical replacement solutions.

Instead of replacing an entire machine because one component can't be sourced, EMF can help determine whether the part can be repaired, reproduced, or manufactured.

Machining for Mining Equipment

Mining equipment operates under extreme loads, abrasive conditions, shock, vibration, and continuous wear.

That creates a constant need for machining, component restoration, replacement parts, and equipment rebuilding.

EMF's experience in the mining industry allows our machining operations to work directly alongside our mining equipment repair and rebuilding capabilities.

We support machining requirements associated with underground and surface mining equipment, longwall mining components, material handling equipment, heavy equipment assemblies, buckets, scoops, wear components, shafts, pins, bushings, and other critical machinery.

When a mining component arrives damaged or heavily worn, machining may be only one part of the solution.

Our ability to combine machining, heavy welding, fabrication, resurfacing, rebuilding, and finishing allows EMF to approach the entire component rather than one isolated operation.

Machining for Electric Motor Repair & Rebuilding

Large industrial electric motor repairs frequently involve mechanical damage in addition to electrical problems.

Shafts wear. Bearing fits deteriorate. Housings become damaged. Mechanical components may need to be restored or replaced.

Because EMF maintains industrial machining capabilities alongside our electric motor repair operations, many of these issues can be addressed within the same organization.

Machining can support:

  • Shaft restoration
  • Bearing fits
  • Journal repair
  • Housing repairs
  • Replacement components
  • Mechanical modifications
  • Custom parts
  • Motor rebuild requirements

That integration gives customers access to electromechanical repair and industrial machining capabilities from one experienced team.

From Raw Steel to Finished Component

This is where EMF's broader capabilities become particularly powerful.

Our machining department doesn't operate in isolation.

A project can begin with raw steel plate, move through large-format CNC cutting, proceed into fabrication and welding, and then move into machining for critical dimensions, bores, surfaces, and other precision features.

That means EMF can take on projects requiring several different manufacturing processes without forcing the customer to manage each operation separately.

Cut it. Fabricate it. Weld it. Machine it. Finish it.

One company can manage the project from material to completed industrial component.

Large-Format Cutting Meets Precision Machining

Our Sidney, Kentucky facility expands those capabilities even further.

EMF operates a large-format Messer CNC cutting system with a 10-foot by 30-foot cutting table, providing the ability to process substantial steel plate and oversized components.

For appropriate materials and applications, our heavy plate processing capabilities extend into the 8- to 10-inch thickness range.

Combine that capacity with our machining and fabrication operations, and EMF can take on substantial industrial projects beginning with exceptionally heavy raw material.

Machining for More Than Mining

Although EMF has extensive experience supporting the mining industry, our machining capabilities apply across heavy industry.

We serve customers operating in:

  • Mining & Material Handling
  • Industrial Manufacturing
  • Processing Facilities
  • Utilities & Power Generation
  • Heavy Construction & Earthmoving
  • Municipal & Infrastructure
  • Aggregate & Material Processing
  • Industrial Equipment Manufacturing and Repair

If the project involves a large or critical metal component that needs to be made, repaired, modified, restored, or reproduced, there's a good chance machining will be part of the solution.

Two Facilities. Broader Capabilities.

EMF operates industrial facilities in Williamson, West Virginia, and Sidney, Kentucky, giving customers access to a broad combination of machining and complementary industrial services.

Our Williamson operation combines machining with extensive electric motor, electromechanical, and industrial equipment repair capabilities.

Our Sidney operation expands our capacity for heavy fabrication, welding, mining equipment rebuilding, large components, and large-format CNC plate processing.

Together, these facilities allow EMF to take on projects that extend well beyond the capabilities of a conventional machine shop.

Industrial Machining Throughout the Region and Nationwide

Electric Machine & Fab serves industrial customers throughout West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and the greater Appalachian region.

Our location doesn't limit our reach.

Components, equipment, drawings, and finished products can move between facilities and customers, allowing EMF to support machining projects throughout the United States.
