Industries We Serve

Different industries use different equipment, but the toughest operations often face the same problems.

Equipment wears out. Components break. Motors fail. Replacement parts become obsolete. Steel structures take damage. And downtime costs money.

Electric Machine & Fab provides the industrial repair, machining, fabrication, welding, equipment rebuilding, electric motor repair, and custom manufacturing capabilities needed to solve those problems.

With facilities in Williamson, West Virginia, and Sidney, Kentucky, EMF serves mining operations, manufacturers, processing facilities, utilities, contractors, municipalities, and other heavy industrial customers throughout the Appalachian region and across the United States.

Whatever the industry, our job is straightforward:

Solve the problem. Build it right. Get it back to work.

Built for Heavy Industry

EMF isn't a one-service shop.

Our customers operate large, expensive equipment in environments where reliability matters and replacement isn't always the easiest—or smartest—solution.

That's why we've built capabilities that work together.

Across the industries we serve, EMF provides:

  • Industrial machining and CNC machining
  • Heavy industrial fabrication
  • Industrial welding
  • Large-format CNC plate cutting
  • Electric motor repair and rebuilding
  • Electromechanical repair
  • Power transmission repair
  • Mining equipment rebuilding
  • Heavy equipment and component rebuilding
  • Equipment retrofitting and modernization
  • Engineering and reverse engineering
  • Custom replacement parts manufacturing

A project may require only one of those services.

The difficult jobs often require several.

That's where EMF's broad industrial capabilities make the biggest difference.

Mining

Mining is deeply connected to the history and capabilities of Electric Machine & Fab.

Located in the heart of the Appalachian mining region, EMF supports underground and surface mining operations with equipment repair, rebuilding, machining, fabrication, welding, electric motor services, and replacement component manufacturing.

Our mining capabilities support projects involving:

  • Longwall mining components

  • Surface mining equipment
  • Heavy equipment components
  • Buckets and scoops
  • Material handling equipment
  • Structural assemblies
  • Wear components
  • Large industrial electric motors
  • Obsolete and custom replacement parts

When mining equipment arrives heavily worn, cracked, damaged, or missing material, EMF has multiple ways to approach the repair.

Heavy Construction & Earthmoving

Construction and earthmoving equipment takes a beating.

Buckets wear away.

Pins and bores deteriorate.

Structural components crack.

Heavy steel bends.

Mounting points become damaged.

And replacing a major component isn't always the best answer.

EMF provides heavy equipment and component rebuilding backed by industrial welding, fabrication, machining, large-format plate cutting, and custom parts manufacturing.

Our capabilities can support projects involving:

  • Buckets
  • Scoops
  • Heavy equipment components
  • Structural assemblies
  • Pins and shafts
  • Worn bores
  • Wear components
  • Equipment frames
  • Custom fabricated sections
  • Obsolete replacement parts

When a component looks finished, we want to see it before you write it off.

Municipal & Infrastructure

Municipalities and infrastructure operations rely on equipment that often has to remain productive for years—sometimes decades.

Pumping equipment, motor-driven systems, mechanical components, material handling equipment, and specialized machinery can become increasingly difficult to support as they age.

EMF provides industrial repair and manufacturing capabilities that can help municipalities and infrastructure operators repair existing equipment, reproduce obsolete components, and extend the useful life of critical machinery.

Capabilities include:

  • Electric motor repair
  • Industrial machining
  • Custom replacement parts
  • Equipment rebuilding
  • Fabrication and welding
  • Power transmission repair
  • Reverse engineering
  • Equipment modifications

One Problem Can Require Several Capabilities

A failed industrial component rarely cares how a company's departments are organized.

A worn piece of equipment may need welding before machining.

A motor repair may require shaft restoration.

An obsolete component may need to be reverse engineered before it can be manufactured.

A heavy equipment rebuild may require plate cutting, fabrication, machining, assembly, and finishing.

That's why EMF's capabilities are designed to work together.

A complex project can move through:

Inspection → Engineering → Material Processing → Fabrication → Welding → Machining → Component Manufacturing → Assembly → Finishing

Instead of coordinating multiple specialty vendors, customers can bring more of the project under one industrial organization.

Repair, Rebuild or Manufacture

Our customers don't always come to us knowing exactly which service they need.

They know what the problem is.

A machine is down.

A motor failed.

A component is worn out.

A part can't be found.

A structure is cracked.

An assembly needs to be rebuilt.

That's enough to start the conversation.

EMF can evaluate the project and determine whether the practical solution involves:

  • Repairing the existing component
  • Rebuilding the equipment
  • Machining worn surfaces
  • Fabricating replacement sections
  • Manufacturing a replacement part
  • Reverse engineering an obsolete component
  • Modifying or modernizing the equipment
  • Building a new custom component

Bring us the industrial problem. We'll help determine the process.

Heavy Equipment. Heavy Steel. Serious Capabilities.

Some industrial projects are simply too large for a conventional repair or fabrication shop.

EMF is built around demanding work.

At our Sidney, Kentucky facility, a large-format Messer CNC cutting system provides a 10-foot by 30-foot cutting table for substantial plate-processing requirements.

For appropriate materials and applications, EMF can process heavy plate in the 8- to 10-inch thickness range.

That capability works alongside heavy fabrication, welding, machining, and equipment rebuilding.

At our Williamson, West Virginia facility, EMF maintains significant capabilities in large industrial electric motor repair, electromechanical work, machining, and equipment rebuilding.

Together, the two facilities provide complementary capabilities for heavy industry.

Keeping Older Equipment Productive

Newer isn't automatically better—especially when the equipment already on the floor is proven, productive, and expensive to replace.

The challenge often becomes keeping older machinery supported.

Parts disappear.

OEMs discontinue components.

Drawings get lost.

Mechanical interfaces become obsolete.

EMF can combine reverse engineering, machining, custom parts manufacturing, fabrication, and equipment retrofitting to help customers extend the useful life of existing industrial equipment.

Sometimes that means repairing the old part.

Sometimes it means manufacturing a new one.

And sometimes it means modifying the equipment so a modern replacement can work.
